Feel Good Friday

I accidentally posted two Feel Good Fridays last week before I edited the post. So, if this looks like a rerun, it’s not. Put down the duckie! Anyone want to list all the celebrities, in order, appearing in this video?

The trumpet player is Wynton Marsalis. Not sure about the others not named in the first post.

I may be a little slap happy this morning but I think that ‘don’t be a stubborn cluck’ is the funniest put down I’ve ever heard on children’s television

The one with the good voice is Joe Williams, British couple are from Upstairs Downstairs (PBS show from the 70’s) vested bearded guy I think is Jeremy Irons and the banjo might be Pete Seger.

“Bearded banjo player”? How about Pete Seeger?

  • Dave July 16, 2010, 2:10 pm

Oh wow, it is Pete Seeger! I just remember him as so much younger. And I definitely will look up some Joe Williams music.

    Banjo guy = Pete Seeger
Bow Tie Guy = Jeremy Irons

  • Kathleen July 16, 2010, 2:53 pm

British couple from Upstairs/Downstairs–Gordon Jackson (Mr. Hudson) and Jean Smart (Rose)

  • Kathleen July 16, 2010, 2:54 pm

The Mets are Keith Hernandez and (I think) Mookie Wilson.

  • Gloria Shiner July 16, 2010, 2:57 pm

Re: Pete Seeger. Maybe you’re thinking of a different Seeger? Pete was born in 1919. He looks pretty good for someone who is over 90.

I only knew Joe Williams because I just saw him on The Cosby Show playing Clarie’s father. =)

John Candy appearing as one of The Schmenge Brothers, per my wife who is a major SCTV fan.

  • kidsis July 16, 2010, 11:45 pm

The vested, bow tie guy is Jeremy Irons. I recognize several of the others by appearance, at the very least (always been bad with names).

  • Mojo July 17, 2010, 3:18 pm

Kathleen – you mean Jean Marsh with Gordon Jackson (you said Jean Smart). They were the only one’s I recognised straight away, and Jeremy Irons of course.

  • Shea July 17, 2010, 4:51 pm

Jean *Marsh* was from Upstairs/Downstairs. Jean Smart is someone else entirely 😉

@ Gloria – I would guess that this clip was made in the early ’80s (judging by Danny DeVito being in his TV character and John Candy being, well, alive and healthy) so Pete Seeger would be about the right age for back then.

Latin-American lady in bright-colored dress = Celia Cruz.

  • ScarletB July 18, 2010, 1:21 pm

The woman with the scarf on her shoulders looks incredibly uncomfortable; meanwhile, Rhea Pearlman and Danny Devito appear to be naturally gifted dancers 🙂 I bet the set of Sesame Street was a wild and crazy place!!!

I remember this fondly from when I was a kid, but you were never aware of any celebrities at that age (5ish? born in ’85) that is of course, excet for Big Bird, Snuff and Ernie and gang!!! 😀

  • ScarletB July 18, 2010, 1:23 pm

    ETA: Snuff = Snuffy

Additionally, and off topic, my brother has an English bulldog named Muffin that I call Snuffles and my sis calls Muffaluffagus. 😀
