That is so awesome.
*sniff*
How sweet! He must be a heck of a guy to inspire his passengers to honor him on his bday!
Awww now I feel all warm and fuzzy and sooky- how sweet!
Wow, how beautiful is that?
I am now leaving for work with a huge grin on my face that I know will be there for the rest of the day!
How AWESOME is that?!?!?
Very cool and touching video. The bus drivers face when the crowd turns around is priceless!
The sweetest thing ever. I got teary-eyed.
I admit I cried! Must be a wonderful man to be honored in such a way! Love it!
restores my faith in humanity! this is great.
So sweet and heartwarming. Thanks for posting this!!
I may have had a tear in my eye and a huge goofy grin on my face. That was beautiful. It has certainly made me feel better about my day.
Oh my god they threw a party for their BUS DRIVER?? That is so great! XD He must be the best bus driver IN THE WORLD!
What a beautiful smile he has.
I officially love everybody involved in the making and sharing of this video. I didn’t understand a word of it, but the beauty of it is, you don’t have to. Gorgeous. Brilliant. Much needed in my world today.
Thank you, Ms. Jeanne.
I showed this video to my Nan who smiled the whole way through and commented on his lovely smile. This one is definitely a winner.
From a Dane: It’s such a lovely video, even though it’s produced by the bus company as a sort of ad (it’s part of a campaign to make bus rides “nicer”, the web address at the end says “Betterbusride.dk”. I would like to stress, though, that as far as I know, everybody in it, apart from Mukhtar himself
, had volunteered to be in it, nobody got paid.
I also thought some of you might be interested in knowing that the song they’re singing is the traditional Danish childrens birthday song “Today it’s (name’s) birthday”, but with the lyrics adapted to a grown-up (instead of singing “And when he goes home from school”, they sing “And when he goes home from the bus”).
Another part of the video that’s more poignant to a Dane is the “demonstration”. The people in it are dressed like/look like they are part of a youth subculture called “the autonamous”. Rightly or wrongly – and this is not the place to debate that – they are known as troublemakers and vandals and have been in several fights with the police. Just look at Mukhtar’s “Oh no!”-face as he sees the “demonstration”, he’s afraid there’s going to be trouble.
It’s such a great video. I’ve seen it several times before, and it still just cheers me up straight away.
I just realized something’s lacking from my original comment: Of the people in the bus, only the camera operator, the trumpet player, and the original singer are in on it. Everybody else in the bus is as surprised as Mukhtar. But we Danes really like singing, so it’s no surprise (almost) everybody joins in
Thank you Quesselin for explaining those points- It was so well filmed and produced that I knew it couldn’t all be raw material. It was clear though from the bus drivers reactions that this was a genuine event. I am so touched by this video- it made me so happy
I greatly enjoy watching surprises in public space, it truely spreads cheer all around. Lovely!! Thank you for the explanation, Quesselin.
Oh I love this so much….I have tears in my eyes. What a wonderful, wonderful thing to do!
I love this video. Even the grouchy guy with the sunglasses makes me smile.
Aw, that’s so sweet! Denmark’s birthday song is really pretty.
@Quesselin: I LOVE that no one else on the bus was in on it but they joined in anyway.
I thought it was just going to be in the bus. I loved that ‘mob’ at the end.
