Feel Good Mother’s Day

by admin on May 13, 2012

A mother’s love is a powerful thing. May we all have a mother’s heart to see the special treasure not always apparent in others.

I love her facial expressions as she “narrates” her story.

Thank you for posting this. I cried through this inspiring story. I would spoil that mother and her child today if I could reach them. Much love to them and their family.

What a handsome little man!
I need to stop watching all these inspiring Mother’s Day videos people are posting, because I’m having a good ugly-cry this morning.
Both times I had my children I left the hospital without them. It’s not easy, but I knew them staying for medical care was for the best. Everyone kept wanting to talk about how ‘horrible’ it must have been to have had my kids in the NICU. I would always respond that I was lucky. The longest stay either of them had was a week. They both got better, they both came home healthy, and if it weren’t for an over-zealous PA I haven’t had to take them back to the hospital for anything. And right now I have two healthy, happy little girls. I am lucky. And I can tell that mom feels lucky to have Christian in her life.
Happy Mother’s Day to all!

Wow, this is a turely inpsiring story. I can’t believe someone actually told this wonderful mother she should have aborted her pregnancy! How judgemental is that? I can understand a woman choosing a termination on serious medical grounds e.g. there is danger that both mother and bady could die but to actually tell a woman she should have had a termination? Unbelieveable! This baby will grow up and have a full life.

Lovely story, thanks for posting it here.

Some of the YouTube comments that people were pretty awful. I will never fathom what makes people say things like that. :o(

That is so inspiring! I am totally pro-choice, but who tells a happy mother that she should have aborted her darling little prince? May they have a wonderful life together.

I watched this video the other day…..and cried the whole time. What a wonderful story! I agree with AS, who tells someone that they should have had an abortion? That’s the height of rudeness and just downright mean!

Wow, what is the world coming to when people presume to make judgements. That woman is very brave – especially to make a video. A child is a precious thing and to for people to tell her she should have killed him is unforgivable. Especially as really, there is not all that much wrong with him. He is missing his eyes. Wow, big deal. He can live without them. Especially in a world where there are so many options to assist blind people in living normal, productive lives. Also, since he was born blind, he will never know anything else so he will never struggle to adapt to losing his sight – he will live right from the get-go without his sight and his other senses will be so much more attuned as a result.

I feel sorry that she has to experience these negative attitudes from ignorant pigs and I’m glad she has the strength and fortitude to overcome this. Although really, she shouldn’t have to because it shouldn’t exist in the first place.

I didn’t stop crying, from beginning to end. What a beautiful heartwarming story. Of course that boy will face challenges as he gets older, but for every person who is a jackass, there will be at least two who are supportive and loving. That’s what needs to be focused on, the supportive and loving. God Bless that family and that adorable little boy :)

@ AS and Lex I agree entirely with your points! Those people who are negative towards this woman need to get their piorties straight and their heads checked.

I’m sitting here in tears – this loving mom will give her son a great life. He’ll be surrounded by love and support, which should help insulate him from the jackasses of the world (Angel’s comment is dead on, thank God the good outnumber the bad!). Hope Christian continues to inspire people to look beyond the surface and stop putting so much importance on outward appearances. God bless their little family.

I loved this video too! I saw it on two different news websites and both places had mostly positive replies but the negative ones were downright venomous. He’s such a precious little boy and his mother must be an incredibly strong woman!

My niece was born with anophthalmus on Christmas Day 1990. She is one of the most beautiful, loving people you would ever meet. She is always happy. She is so loved by so many people. I can’t bring her to any store without her running into someone she knows and they ALWAYS stop to talk to her. We should all be loved like this girl is loved.

Love this!! It made the papers here in the Netherlands too. I’ve watched the video and what striked me was how serene and happy her face looks when she’s “talking” about her boy, true happiness!
And yes, her face was indeed very expressive and that’s what add the power in this video.
She’s amazing and she truly rocks!
