Awesome and inspiring. There are no limits to what man can do if he puts his/her mind to the task, it will be done. Congratulations to all the athletes who participated.

Those are awesome! I wish they would have carried these on NBC like they did with the regular Olympics!

I agree; the pictures are awe inspiring.

I also found it interesting to see things like the blindfolds. It makes sense – a blind runner might be legally blind but still be able to see in a limited capacity. This would give the legally blind runner a slight advantage over a totally blind runner, hence the blindfolds to level the playing field as much as possible.

Thanks for posting this! I agree with Katie – this is valuable entertainment, and just as much fun to watch as the regular Olympics.

Many are also inspiring outside of the sports arena: http://www.chroniclejournal.com/content/news/local/2012/09/20/paralympic-gold-medallist-inspires-youth

Thanks for posting this. The Paralympics were terrific. There were some truly astonishing sights – including two of the most amazing races I’ve ever seen: Richard Whitehead (of GB) winning the T42 200m by storming through off the bend, and the Women’s 34-points 4x100m relay in the pool, which was not far off being a four-way tie. I don’t think I’ve ever had such a sport-oriented summer before.

Thanks for posting these! Rather puts all our regular day-to-day trials and tribulations in their proper perspective don’t they?

Totally agree with you Nestholder and how about Ellie Simmonds in the 400m freestyle? That girl was swimming 2 strokes to her competitors 1. Totally thrilling.

Before the Paralympics, the TV station Channel Four was running an ad campaign called “Meet the Superhumans” – I defy anyone to watch that ad and NOT feel both humbled and inspired by the competitors who were showcased.

Superhumans indeed, thanks for posting this.

Oh yay! I worked with the Aussie team (the swimmers in particular) before the games in Cardiff and the womens relay result in particular was amazing. I’m so glad they got a nod in the photos. The mens team were equally fantastic, though they didn’t have a little cutie like Maddie so maybe not as inspiring? lol.

We also looked after Oceania and Iliesa came to the camp. Not everyone knows this but he’s the first gold medal winner for Fiji at the Paralympics… couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. He’s a true gentleman.
