Feel Good Friday – Team Jillian

by admin on January 18, 2013

Etiquette Hell LLC and its readers and forum members have a long history of charitable giving to a variety of worthy causes.  Some of the projects our readers have given generously have included sending money cards to forum members affected by Hurricane Katrina, scarves and mittens to an orphanage in Mexico, scarves for rehabilitation patients, and money to a small rural fire department.   Public Service Announcements have included information on blood donor drives and Melanoma awareness.

For 2013, Etiquette  Hell LLC is partnering up with the Families with Spinal Muscular Atrophy to promote their First Annual Chesapeake Chapter Walk-n-Roll fundraising event on Saturday, April 27, 2013.   This event is near and dear to my heart because my grandniece, Jillian, was diagnosed with SMA two years ago.    So, EHell LLC is supporting Team Jillian to reach their fundraising goal for the Walk-n-Roll.   If you would like to join in, please donate through the Team Jillian web page.

It probably wasn’t the smartest idea to publish a Munchausen By Internet post the day before posting an appeal to donate money for medical research.  I can assure all that Jillian is quite real, she is my brother’s granddaughter and she has been diagnosed with a milder form of SMA that will make her increasingly less mobile as she ages. All money donated through the link provided above goes to Families With Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Donations can be made anonymously.

I know about SMA from another website’s message boards. On the Straight Dope website, Mark Storm has been chronicling his daughter Gettty’s SMA Type 1, from initial diagnosis through the latest news. They formed a foundation, The Getty Owl Foundation, to raise awareness and funds. Their story is at http://gettyowl.org/

Now that I know about Team Jillian, it looks like I’ll be supporting 2 SMA teams now!

I was thinking the same thing, Ms. Jeanne. But if we don’t trust you by now, I don’t know why we would still be reading. (I’ve been reading e-hell since 2001.)

Good luck to Team Jillian!
