Peppermint Patty is in desperate need of a book on proper ettiquette. First she invites herself to dinner. Than she invites Marcie & Franklin. She cuts off Charlie Brown on the phone when he tries to tell her his family isn’t eating at home. And then she throws a temper tantrum over the food. Does she have any idea what manners are?

Yes, I was thinking that this was an ironic choice for an etiquette site-especially since all Peppermint Patty’s bad behavior gets rewarded in the end. She and her two tag alongs also get to go to Charlie Brown’s grandmother and inflict 3 more unplanned guests on her. (Though Snoopy and Woodstock, who did 90% of the work, do not).

Let’s not even get started on Lucy and the football.

I cannot stand the Charlie Brown holiday specials. To me, they are about kids that gang up to pick on the odd kid and then get rewarded for it. Heck, in the Halloween episode, all the adults do it too by giving Charlie Brown a rock instead of candy. Lucy picks on Charlie and then turns around and tries to give him crap advice by playing psychiatrist- then she uses that against him later. The one special where Lucy and Linus’ brother gets a dog made me mad when the Mom made the kid get rid of the dog by sending him out onto the street. What kind of message does that send to kids?
