When game designer Jane McGonigal found herself bedridden and suicidal following a severe concussion, she had a fascinating idea for how to get better. She dove into the scientific research and created the healing game, SuperBetter. In this moving talk, McGonigal explains how a game can boost resilience — and promises to add 7.5 minutes to your life. This is worth watching if only for how to live one’s life more productively.

I think this was very inspiring. Thank you for posting it.
I read daily, and comment extremely rarely, but I wanted to take a moment to thank you for posting this. I don’t think I would have seen the game and started playing otherwise, and it was exactly what I needed in this moment. Thank you.
How interesting. Here’s my issue. I don’t like shaking hands with people in church when the leader tells us to, but now she’s telling us that the handshake should be 6 seconds! Ah well, if it adds more to my life I might consider not hating it. I wonder if air kisses would work the same? Less germs might be passed during this flu season.
Jane McGonigal is one of my heroes. If you play video games or know someone who does then you owe it to yourself to pick up and read her book “Reality is Broken”
I challenge her math; the increase in lifespan may not be linear.
Also, it cost them 20 minutes to gain 7.5, so even the basic concept is flawed.
Loved this video! Very glad something led me to watch it. Thank you for posting it.
