Today is Memorial Day in the US. Remembering my late father who served in the Army and eventually retired a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army National Guard and my late father-in-law who served in the Army during World II and the Korean War with the 503rd earning a bronze star and a Purple Heart.

Much love and great respect to all veterans, past and present.

A shout to my dad, a Korean war vet, who is actually in the James Bond movie “Goldfinger”!
He is one of the soldiers hitting the deck when the helicopters fly over in the beginning of the film.

Also, much respect to all military families, for their sacrifices.

Just a technical note–the day to remember those who served but survived (such as your father, and mine) is Veterans Day. Memorial Day is set aside to remember those who died in the service of their country. To honor those presently serving, we have Armed Forces Day. — May we all remember that freedom is not free.

Yesterday on the highway, I saw a bumper sticker on a car that said “my son is a soldier who fights for your “A” students freedom”.
