My husband and I were owned by a pug until recently (we had to put down our 15 year-old Pug, Orion, just about a month ago. It was a very sad day in my household, I can tell you).
They are an very interesting, fun breed and I can honestly tell you that once you’ve gone Pug, you really don’t want to go back. We got Rion when he was a year-old, so seeing Pug puppies was a treat since we didn’t get to see him during this stage.
Why on earth would anyone say he’s ugly? I seriously don’t understand that.
But they are ugly. They’re what TVTropes calls “Ugly Cute” (the page even has a pug at the top as an example). Admitting that they’re ugly is like admitting that cats are evil. You can absolutely adore them (I do), but still admit it.
