The Klingon Wedding

by admin on May 25, 2009

My daughter, a trekkie, says that it’s weirdos like the wedding party in the following video that give trekkies a bad name. The wedding ceremony is nearly a word for word re-enactment of the Deep Space Nine episode where Worf marries Jadzia/Dax. I’m sorry, once again I am experiencing extreme cognitive dissonance listening to the high-pitched hampster voice of the “officiant”. Geez, if you’re going to get married Klingon-style, at least have an officiant with a James Earl Jones voice. Do’Ha’

James Earl Jones = Star Wars. Darth Vader would not officiate a Klingon wedding, he would be too busy in another galaxy taking over small planets with his Stormtroopers.
William Shantner aka: James T. Kirk perhaps….

Kirk wouldn’t officiate a Klingon wedding either, he would be too busy killing them.

Kirk would never be near a Klingon Wedding as it is impolite to bring trash into a Wedding place,
and Vader would not be a problem as he would willingly bow to the TRUE EMPIRE.
On the other hand James E Jones is indeed the voice of God .

and why trash ANY wedding . these people at least have the guts to get off the couch and go do this. And not just read about it on the web.

Now see your daughter has breeched some fandom etiquette. The fact is things like the wedding are NOT what give Treekies or any other fandom members a bad name – you will NEVER see any star wars fan complain that someone had an imperial theme to their wedding. What makes “us”(in several fandoms and non norm groups) look bad are a) snobs like your daughter who believe there is only one way to appreciate your given fandom and b) those who actually do make us look bad by doing illegal/bad/dangerous things t make us appear like dangerous freaks.

Also a proper officiant would have the British accent similar to Patrick Stewart’s.

I’m one of those fandom people who gets easily irritated by people who think theirs is only the right way and if you do fun things like this you’re wrong. I have friends planning a Dr. Who themed wedding, do I think a Tardis style wedding dress is a bit much? Sure, but that’s me. Said opinion(which will never be voiced) will not stop me from having a slice of their Dalek cake. The other half of my poly circle had a rainbow theme to their wedding.

As long as everyone has a good time, especially the HC, then others need to keep their teeth together and let it go.
