Bride’s
joke backfires
A bride who jokingly replied ‘I don’t’
found the joke was on her when the registrar refused to go ahead with the
ceremony.
Tina Albrecht, 27, was to marry fiancé Dietmar Koch, 29, at a castle in Steyr,
Upper Austria. But after the receptionist tried to bring a bit of humour into
the ceremony by saying “I don’t” before correcting herself, the
authorities called the wedding off.
THE
PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS v. RONALD SCHICKEL, JR.
The facts of this case surround the well-publicized events
following two wedding receptions on August 5, 2000, at the William Tell Holiday
Inn in Countryside, Illinois. Before the night was over, a chaotic melee
involving approximately 25 to 30 guests of both wedding receptions erupted in
the hotel lobby. As a result of that mass altercation, many people were
seriously injured, and one victim, Michael Chambers, lost his life.
