Title: Suggestions for baby onesie slogans!
Post by: lilfox on January 17, 2013, 03:36:08 PM
I have a coworker who is due to have her first child soon.  I don't think there'll be any kind of formal baby shower (not really done here), but I was thinking it would be nice to get her something from our group and as part of a gift, I thought cute onesies with a message or image would be good.

The hook is that our group studies the effects of sleep deprivation, which as you know is a common problem with parents of newborns.  So, I'm looking for suggestions of funny sayings or quips about fatigue, sleep, no sleep, that sort of thing.  The geekier the better - we're researchers and engineers here.  And for what it's worth, coworker loved the "Go the F to sleep" book, so edgier humor is okay too (within the bounds of the filters!).

Any ideas?  Thanks!

"I'm On Night Shift"

"No Pay Differential for Night Shift - just warm baby to hold"

"I'm Howling Because I Miss You"

"Daddy's Turn"

"You're Walking the Floor Over Me" (title twist from an old song)

"In 20 Years, This Will Be A Fond Memory"

"Memories Are Made Of This"

"Short Term Memory?  Wazzat?"

Whoa   :)  I was just going to post a couple of the ideas I had to get the ball rolling but you guys are quick!

"Risk factors for fatigue:
5) Time of Day
4) Time since last sleep
3) Duration of last sleep
2) Workload
1) BABY"

Or putting one of the 7 point self-report sleepiness ratings scales with a line at the bottom:
"You're awake now, might as well collect some data!"

Edgy?

I saw one the other day - "my mom's a total MILF"

My favorite, which wouldn't work here, are the identical twin ones - like 'Baby' and 'Ditto' or 'Pete' and 'Repeat'

There's the classic - "Got milk?"

Love these! Think Geek has some good ones. I sent my nephew the "I void warranties" tee for Christmas when he was 18 months. A few months prior he'd thrown a sippy cup at my Bro & SIL's brand new tv and cracked it.

"Your glasses are my plaything."

After babysitting my little cousin, my old pair has the scratches to prove it.  Before that, I'd never thought it possible that a six-month-old can wear an evil smirk!  No, I'm serious.  It was unsettling and hilarious at the same time.

We were no longer military - but I turned our old kakhi t-shirts into sleep shirts for a little girl by painting "Night Patrol" and similar slogans on them.  She was way too old for onesies by then....

Babies can make as much noise as a siren, and Winston Churchill wore a onesie, which was known as a siren suit, the idea bieng you sliipped into it quickly and went into the air raid shelter.

Saw that and it made me laugh just cause I'm a morning person and often wake up before the baby does. There are rare times he insists on getting up at 5, but they don't occur often.

My girlfriends bought an extra pack of diapers for me and we spent 45 minutes or so writing goofy things on the diaper.  They were meant to make my husband and me laugh when we had to get up for that 3AM change.

Some of my favorites were "Get it while it's hot!", one with a poo and flies drawn on the back, "Danger!", a skull and crossbones, etc.

The diapers don't last as long as onesies, but they were one of the best presents.
