Title: Justin Bieber gets worse (warning: body fluids)
Post by: Hillia on July 10, 2013, 11:02:02 PM
http://m.tmz.com/#Article/2013/07/10/justin-bieber-restaurant-mop-bucket-piss-pee-urinate-video-bill-clinton (http://m.tmz.com/#Article/2013/07/10/justin-bieber-restaurant-mop-bucket-piss-pee-urinate-video-bill-clinton)
Article contains coarse language

Synopsis: Justin and some friends were in a nightclub and decided to leave through the kitchen.  On the way out, Justin chose to relieve himself in a mop bucket, to the amusement of his buddies.  This is going way beyond 'young star doesn't know how to handle fame' and straight into 'nasty brat'.

His mother must be so proud to have raised a son like him.

His mother must be so proud to have raised a son like him.

That's kind of mean - I think in this case it's less about his upbringing and more about the fame/lifestyle going to his head. The amount of media exposure and fan-craziness could easily turn any kid, no matter what their upbringing or parents were like.

I certainly don't have any respect for the kid, I think he's been acting like a total jerk, but given that he's what, 19? Yeah I think most of this behaviour is on him.

I think that basic behaviour traits are set at a young age and by the time he was preteen / teen, his mother or other parental figure should have been able to cram some sense and decency into his head.

From what I read and hear about him, he seems to be a self-important, entitled and egocentric little jerk.

Did you see Anthony Bourdain's response? He said several things but my favorite was "Looking forward to seeing him open for Menudo at the State Fair— in about ten years."  ;D

I can appreciate what it must do to a 15 year old's mind to be worshiped and adored and told "you're perfect" for years, however, there comes a time when you grow up and choose to be responsible or continue to act like a spoiled child and suffer the consequences. Welcome to reality, Justin. Your well-deserved reputation for being an entitled brat will eventually ensure that nobody wants to work with you.

Then I feel sorry for Menudo if they ever have to deal with that entitled so-and-so (too bad I will get banned for what I really want to call him.)

Plus, there are plenty of 15 year olds who have had the same experience and come out NOT spoiled and troublemakers.  We hear about the ones who get arrested and things like that.  But there are a lot of celebrities who were child stars and are now great adults.

I agree! My first thought was "What did Menudo do to deserve that?" lol

Yep. They chose to be mature and responsible, whether they always were or started down the wrong path and pulled themselves together. I just had the "time to grow up" chat with my 13yo DD regarding a friend of hers. Everybody has the potential to be a brat, regardless of their circumstance, it's whether you CHOOSE to or not that makes or breaks ya!

His mother must be so proud to have raised a son like him.

That's just a part of the problem - these little bratty stars don't realize that the stupid stuff they do is a reflection on their parents.  I can hear my mother saying, "what must the neighbors think?"

I'm sure his mother is probably thinking the same thing I do when my kids pull a stupid public stunt like this, "He was raised better than that.  I am going to beat his $ss for embarassing me like that."

For a very public figure like Justin it is going to follow him around forever.  Stupid putz.

Like who?  Not being snarky, just curious, because everything I've read and heard seems to indicate the opposite.  And part of me wonders if it's a mistake for parents to let their kids become household names at the age of 10.  Your kid becomes subject to forces you can no longer control.  Would a "good" parent let this happen?

Off the top of my head, the only one I can think of who's old enough to count is Jodie Foster.  I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but obviously she had some kind of solid support system going on.

But I can think of a lot more who didn't or haven't.  Tatum O'Neil, Lohan, Corey Haim, Michael Jackson, Amanda Bynes, Macauley Culkin (not sure yet) etc etc.  Beiber should probably be on that list, too.

I seem to remember vaguely a story Ron Howard told about when he started to act a little to full of himself and his dad immediately punished him right then and there. If I remember correctly Andy Griffith made it clear that Ro's dad had his full approval.  I think parents make a difference, as does making sure the child star isn't enabled by yes men. My guess is when you compare the two lists, those are the most significant factors.

Most (maybe all) of the kids on The Cosby Show and The Facts of Life and Harry Potter.  Anna Paquin.  Mara Wilson.  Brooke Shields.  And there are many others out of showbiz and living regular lives, but we just don't hear about them because that's too "normal and boring."

Sadly, a lot of parents of stars get sucked into the whole stardom thing, too. If they aren't strong people themselves, they aren't going to be strong enough to discipline their meal ticket.

From what I've seen he apologized to Bill Clinton for spraying his picture with cleaning fluid and saying, 'F*** Bill Clinton!', but that's it.

The Clinton thing strikes me as being more out of control than the bucket thing.

If he was drinking, I could see someone foggily thinking "I need to go ... oh, there's a receptacle". It's gross, and shows a substance abuse issue, but it's not malicious.

But what exactly did Clinton ever do to him? Other than, maybe, being even better known, and for better reasons?

This was a big topic of discussion on "The Chew" where three of the five hosts are chefs.  I also ran this by DS who told me that Mr. Bieber made a whole lot of extra work for a lot of people because:

1.  Bodily fluids in the mop bucket must be disposed of.
2.  Mop bucket must now be sanitized.
3.  Mop head (if it was in the bucket) must be either sanitized or discarded.
4.  Employee who had to deal with the bodily fluids must sanitize his/her hands and may have to put on new shoes if there was any "sloshing".

This is a health violation; pure and simple.  DS also said most chefs would have grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and the back of the pants and thrown his sorry behind out the door with the rest of the trash (or called the police if they were more patient).

Unfortunately, I fear Mr. Bieber is now at the stage of egocentricity that he truly would believe that being able to tell people "I cleaned up Justin Bieber's body fluids," would be quite adequate compensation for the extra work created.

Make it 28, and that's what I mean, really.  I don't want to see him join the 27 club or anything.  But maybe he does... he does consider himself to be the Kurt Cobain of his generation.

As for child stars that have grown up fine, among those already mentioned there's Alison Arngrim, Matthew and Patrick Laborteaux, Melissa Sue Anderson, and quite a few others.  Yes, I love "Little House"!  Can you tell?! :)

Like posted above, we don't hear as much about the ones who grew up without incident because that's just not news.

Since we're bringing up Sheldon, Doctor Mayim Bialik seems to have done okay.

Kurt Russell comes to mind as well.  He seems to be reasonably stable and I never heard of any shenanigans from him.

I hope this kid has his money safely invested because I have a feeling his career is nearly done.  Urinating in a restaurant kitchen bucket isn't exactly dreamy teen idol material and he sounded like a total idiot in the video.  There's the type of rebellious bad boy that's cool and sexy and then there's this.

The fact that he was allowed to obtain Clinton's phone number in order to call and apologize personally really ticked me off. Talk about rewarding bad behavior! What kind of message does that send to him? You can do whatever you want and STILL get a direct number to a former President because you're Justin. Freaking. Beiber!! Ugh, spare me. If I vandalized the photo of a famous person while cursing said person I seriously doubt that person would spare 5 seconds for me to apologize.  ::)

I wish Clinton would have told his people to tell told Justin's people "Thanks for the offer but I'm not interested. He should, however, apologize to the restaurant staff!"

Well, I got schooled!

But just to clarify, when I said "stars", I wasn't necessarily talking about every child who's been in a sitcom or TV series.  I meant ones who became and stayed household names at a really young age, more like the Mickey Rooney mold.

I'm not even sure Bieber qualifies per my specs.  (That's because I don't know how old he was when he became famous).  I do think it's different with teens, who at least have some kind of worldview based on reality.

However, you just named one yourself that's done pretty well for himself. ;)

I would say it's vandalism, but I suppose if the restaurant tried pressing charges, people in suits would show up with wallets, going, "How much will it take to make this go away?"

I do fear that Bieber will one day find himself not surrounded any more by bodyguards or fixers. If he hasn't grown out of this stage yet, that will be painful.

He's not getting any better.  This morning I heard on the radio that he was spitting on his fans from his balcony at some hotel.  The funny part (to me) is that his grandmother apparently asked the media to leave him alone, that everyone did (stupid) things when they were young, the poor little boy doesn't need to be followed like that, bad media people!

Let's not forget geekdom demigod, Wil Wheaton!

Yes. And I'll give Wil props, because so many people disliked the character of Wesley Crusher, many were predisposed to dislike Wil. And yet, he was able to win the geekdom over by his own personality.

Yeah, but he won't hesitate to play the Memaw card.

Yeah, I'm sorry, but playing the Memaw card makes you a horrible person, in my mind.  ;)

You beat me to it!  I just finished her book and she's a hoot!

Funny I thought the opposite. A "civilian" had to clean up his mess at the restaurant and it may have effect the other patrons service but I don't believe Bill Clinton was effect in any way by Bieber rant and he has the training and practice to deal with insults.
I wasn't considering the thought being put into the acts but the ego needed to not care you caused some person to have to clean your pee up.

I know from the other person's end, dealing with body fluids is worse than insults. And goodness knows, Bill Clinton has heard much, much worse, I'm sure.

However, from the offender's side, I think the bucket issue could have been simply due to being extremely intoxicated. Lots of young men who overindulge do stupid things, and I wouldn't write them all off as hopelessly rude (at least, not when sober). If this were the only part of the incident, and Bieber had not otherwise gone out of his way to be rude, I'd chalk it up as a learning experience on why we don't get that drunk in public.

But the Clinton thing shows an anger, a desire to be disrespectful. Which indicates that the bucket issue may well have been intentionally designed to degrade the staff at the restaurant. The two together paint a much darker picture.

Alison Arngrim who played Nellie on Little House on the Prairie. The title is Confessions of a Prairie [female dog].

It was the first book I bought for my kindle and it's a great read, especially if you grew up on Little House like I did.

This really bugged me as someone who spent time working in retail.

Clinton was gracious, but I really felt like Justin Beiber calling him to apologize almost made the whole thing worse, and here's why...

1. Anyone who lived through his Presidency knows that Bill Clinton has a thick skin. As if he cared that a 19 year old pop singer insulted a picture of him...that is if he even knew about it before the apology! Considering that he work he does now is running a humanitarian foundation, I would assume he has better things to worry about. So it felt bit presumptuous of Beiber to assume Clinton was really that hurt.

2. Calling a former President of the United States personally to apologize asserts his own status and power.

3. There was no word on him apologizing to the restaurant staff even-though he wronged them much more than Clinton. He disrespected their property, and showed no regard for the fact that they'd have to clean up the mess he made.

4. Word has it Beiber used it as a networking opportunity, and mentioned to that he'd like to work with the Clinton Global Initiative. I guess apologizing to restaurant staff wouldn't further his career.

I didn't look to see if he apologized to the restaurant staff. Assuming he did not , not that it just wasn't printed anywhere. Wow even his handlers are a bit messed up.  Clinton he could have apologized public no real need to call him but the staff he should have apologized in a way that made a difference to them.

Yeah, TMZ (a shamefully entertaining gossip site) has pics of him spitting from a hotel balcony.  Justin and his PR team - probably the most woefully underpaid people in the industry - claim the pics were doctored.

Yeah, I've been saying he's trying so hard to be gangsta, but he just looks like a fool, a little boy, and spoiled brat.  There is no excuse for disgusting rudeness.  Sharone Osborne may feel bad for him, but I sure don't; I save that emotion for those he is abusing.

My thoughts exactly. I haven't seen anything saying he apologized to the restaurant staff, so either he didn't do it or it isn't being reported.
Anyway, if he'd called both Clinton and the restaurant, or just the restaurant, then I'd give him the benefit of the doubt that it was just a drunken mistake and he's trying to make amends, but just calling Clinton (that we know of) felt just as arrogant as choosing to use a mop bucket as his personal toilet.

POD.

If he were just trying to go with the gangsta look, that's simply a fashion mistake. It doesn't make him a bad person, although I would love to shake him and scream "buy a cap that fits, you look ridiculous!"

It's his behavior though. I know he's a young man who was a child star and he's trying to rebel and assert his independence but can't since he's in the public eye. That doesn't excuse being rude to working people though, and this isn't the first time he's done that.

I think he's got a God Complex. He's been worshipped and idolized too long, so he thinks everyone else is beneath him - so much so that he can use and abuse them however he wants. That coupled with some bodyguards that keep him from suffering the results of his actions - even illegal ones - means he knows no boundaries and doesn't think he has any because he's The Biebs. I'm hoping his fans are becoming disillusioned with this idol status of his.

He's also a teenager. Teenagers try to establish their individuality by pushing against boundaries. When you're rich, adored by fans, and travelling much of the time without parental guidance, boundaries are going to be very hard to find. I suppose it's a good thing that he's (so far) merely been bratty, and not dangerous.

Probably, but it makes the kids happy so I don't care why he does it :)

I think he's rapidly going the way of Britney and Lindsay, and at a younger age than either of them when they hit rock-bottom. It's sad he didn't have any adults looking out for his best interests back when it might have made a difference. I mean, if a 15 year old is constantly being screamed at by the whole world that he's amazing and awesome and hot, and there's no one there to help him put things into context and stay centered, of course he's going to turn into this. Kid didn't stand a chance.

I kind of object to her getting it back. She threw it on stage - probably in the hopes he would touch it - and he gave her a lot more than she bargained for lol

He did it intentionally to be get back at the audience, yeah, because he asked them not to throw things and they kept doing it.

But, heck, plenty of rockstars would do something much more rude!

And, it's easy for us to say that it's bad behavior and he shouldn't do it, but would we really be so polite if we had to spend an hour out of our day being pelted with cellphones in front of thousands of people?

Probably...but, so? He made a lot of kids with life-threatening diseases very happy. I don't think he's a saint solely for granting wishes, but I'm glad he did it - regardless of his reasons.

When I brought up his wish-granting, I just meant to convey that it would be nice if the rest of his personality and behavior matched that image, not that it excuses his bad behavior in any way.

For some reason, this one doesn't bother me so much.  It happened almost a year ago on Thanksgiving, at his grandmother's house, and who knows what the family's attitude towards nudity is?  Grandma may still see him as a cute little boy running around being silly, and given that his boy parts were covered by the guitar, she didn't get the full monty.

Spitting on people, though, is just gross.

IMO, parenting wouldn't fix a person this wild. Someone needs to make him pull his head out of a lower orifice and hit him with about 3 clue-by-fours. Sowing wild oats, nothing; he's creating another world bread-basket of them.

Seriously, someone need to explain to him the difference between being bad and being naughty.

And now he has trouble in Argentina for defiling their flag.  Apparently he walked off stage dragging two  flags with his feet and a microphone stand.  When in another country, don't trod on their flag.  You think it would be common sense.

IIRC, he claims he thought they were tee shirts or something.  Which he might get away with, if he were known for generally being respectful and well-behaved.

I don't think it's impossible to grow up sane in the entertainment industry. But of all environments, it's probably the one with the highest percentage of people who have a vested interest in messing you up.

To the USA eHellions : that big "klonk" sound you heard was the collective *headdesk* a lot of us Canadians did.

I retract what I said in a previous post.  He does not need parenting, he needs to have manners beaten into him since shame and scolding (if any) do not work.
