What is wrong with icicles? Don't they just melt when it gets warm?

They're talking about plastic silvery tinsel that some people use to decorate Christmas trees.

Oh  ::)  Now I feel dumb, LOL.

Rose2Bear?  Please don't feel dumb.  I laughed until I CRIED when I read this.  Probably because I was wondering the exact same thing!  ;D

Because that is what they are "supposed" to represent - real water icicles - hanging off of the branches.

PITA is what I cal them.  We haven't put them on the tree since the cat came to live here.  Or the tinsle garland either.  Just lot's and lots of bead strands.

although when I was a kid Mom would take every single one OFF of the tree and wrap them up in a napkin "for next year" and then get a new box the following Christmas

HUH?

The little community where I lived has a bon fire to burn all the Christmas trees.  People pile them up in a specific area, then on Saturday night in mid January, the volunteer fire department lights them up.  It's quite the community gathering... and quite a bon fire!
