I wish i could save this thread just to remember the answers. Mr. Goblin has started collecting wine over the last few years, but we're definitely amateurs ~plus, he doesn't even drink it, so he has no opinion on the taste.
I've fallen in love with 2004 DaVinci Chianti - it tastes wonderful, and we're hoping it's a keeper.
Anything with the Semillon (sp?) grape from Australia 2002 should be fabulous if the wine was acidic enough to hold up beyond 2 years.
We live in an area with some local wineries & i've found that they're very happy to point you toward what you're looking for, whether it is a dessert wine, or something you want to keep on the shelf for 10 years.
