I had to put this here and in my
LiveJournal after DH got off the phone with Kit...
DH just got off the phone with Kit, who drove the genny home from FedEx field in Maryland. Apparently, between the time DH locked up for the night before leaving the site and the time Kit hooked up to the truck, someone got INTO the generator. Kit, seeing the lock hanging there, sealed it and drove off - at 6 pm last night.
This morning, there were holes punched through the roof of the generator - and things inside were bent and battered. Kit called the police, worried he was going to find a body in there (on a side note, this happens to be in the town I went to high school in in NJ).
They came and opened it up, finding nothing more than the fact that someone apparently had been in there and had finally managed to punch their way through the steel container. They think that it had to be an illegal, since a stage hand, if he'd gone in there to hide from work, as they think is what happened here, would have yelled when the truck finally stopped, and gotten help.
Seems the Kenilworth PD had another call this morning, too - 6 am, a man showed up at the diner. He spoke no English, and could only write his name and address in Maryland. Apparently, he had no idea where he was. Gee... coincidence? The police don't seem to think so.
So now Kit and DH have been told: no more transporting human cargo!
