Call me old fashioned, but why are you the cot?  Shouldn't your boyfriend take that option instead?

Like your boyfriend's parents, I sleep much better with a chill in the air.  I also crank a/c at hotels to create white noise so I don't hear other guests. If your Bf's parents are paying for the room, they should be able to be comfortable.  I think it might be time to spring for your own room.

I agree with others who have said you should get your own room.  I can't imagine anything more uncomfortable than sharing a hotel room with other people.  Makes me shudder to even think of it.

I'm also wondering why the parents are not ordering a room with two beds.  It sounds like they're getting a bed for themselves and then leaving BF and the OP to sleep on a cot and foldaway.  If they like the cold so much, why not get two beds, they can sleep in the bed next to the AC and BF/OP can sleep in the bed further away.

However, the best option is just to get your own room from now on.

No, there are 2 beds. His parents both have bad back problems, so Mom & Sis sleep in one bed, Dad in the other bed, BF sleeps on the floor, I sleep in a cot in a separate room.

No, there are 2 beds. His parents both have bad back problems, so Mom & Sis sleep in one bed, Dad in the other bed, BF sleeps on the floor, I sleep in a cot in a separate room.

Oh, goodness. This calls for separate rooms. Even if it's you and Sis in one room. Simply tell them you can't sleep that close to the air conditioner. Your comfort is as important as theirs.

I think age may be an issue here.  My mom would've had a fit at me being in a separate room with my BF when I was still a teen, even if I was 18-20. 

That being said, I think the option of the OP and her BF's Sis in a room is one worth considering too.  Also, if Claritin doesn't work, Aleve Cold & Sinus and the Tylenol version of cold medicine both work nearly as well for me.

Separate room is out of the question due to finances. The sleep situation is pretty much set in stone, for a lot of reasons. But now that BF has moved away to college, I don't think we'll be traveling as much all together anymore. (When we went on a week-long vacation last year, we did get 2 separate rooms and that worked great, but for just one or two nights they can't afford 2 rooms.)

Well, if you're not willing to consider any alterations in the situation, all you can do is either put up with it or stop going on vacation with them.

That's odd, I would have thought 1 or 2 nights would have cost LESS than a full week.

I would be willing to consider alterations, but alterations would cost more money. Yes, it is really nice when we have 2 rooms, but there are times when it's not possible.

Twik--they have a rewards credit card that earns them free nights. They use those free nights once a year for a week-long vacation. Other times, they don't have free nights.

Maybe this isn't the norm, but all suite rooms that I have stayed in have had separate AC units for the bedroom area and the living room area.  Why can't you keep your the AC in your area at a higher temp?  Obviously this solution does not apply to non suite rooms.
