I'd just speak up assertively, "I'm sorry, but it's too cold for me with the A/C on.  Can we raise the room temperature? If not, then I need to sleep somewhere else."

If they're still not willing to accommodate you, I'd get another room even if I have to pay for it myself.

Separate room is out of the question due to finances. The sleep situation is pretty much set in stone, for a lot of reasons. But now that BF has moved away to college, I don't think we'll be traveling as much all together anymore. (When we went on a week-long vacation last year, we did get 2 separate rooms and that worked great, but for just one or two nights they can't afford 2 rooms.)

Well, if you're not willing to consider any alterations in the situation, all you can do is either put up with it or stop going on vacation with them.

I would be willing to consider alterations, but alterations would cost more money. Yes, it is really nice when we have 2 rooms, but there are times when it's not possible.

So pay your own way. Or ask your parents for help. Or point the vents of the a/c up so they're not blowing directly on you. Or ask if the beds can be moved (they're seldom bolted to the wall) so those who need the a/c more can be closer to it, and you can be on the other end of the room. Or give your BF the cot and you sleep on the floor. There are lots of things that can be done if you're simply willing to do them.

Sleep on the floor as far away from the A/C as you can.  Don't complain, just smile and say you can't sleep well near a cold A/C unit.

I hate to say it, but you two are grown up now.  It's obvious that taking vacations with his family causes a great deal of strain on you health-wise.  Either decline the invites or save up enough money to pay for your own room.  If they can't afford two rooms, why can't you and BF pay for your own room yourselves?  If you can't afford it, then you shouldn't go.

She said her BF just moved away to college, so I assume they're both just out of high school, or fairly close to that.

When we travel and stay overnight in a hotel, we all share a suite-style room. This is fine and dandy for everyone.

It's not fine and dandy for everyone, because you have problems with it.  How many vacations have you gone on with them and not spoken up?  Tell them you can't sleep there, and if they ask, tell them why.

Get your own room. Barring that, push the cot as far from the AC as possible, or sleep on the floor.
Would you be comfortable bunking with Mom and letting Sis take the cot? I know some people are uncomfortable sleeping in the bed with others (I am depending on who it is...I could sack out with my MIL, but not my SMIL, and I sleep with close friends on occasion....hmmm, that sounded really abd-minds out of the gutter folks!!) but if neither one of you minds it it might be a better solution.
I can sleep and prefer to sleep in the cold. But too much heat and my nose dries out like a little raisin and my sinuses dry up and ache all day.

I'm 17, he's 18, we're both about to move out on our own, but separately.

I'll probably just get a 2nd room next time. That would probably be best.

Well, the age thing changes everything.  Once you're 18, get your own room.
