madmusician:
I was at the concession stand at my local AMC Theaters, and while the nice guy behind the counter was getting my popcorn, I overheard a conflict on the register next to me.

The lady had ordered a Freezie. Or whatever they're called. She wanted White Cherry, but as the employee walked away to go get the freezie, the lady called, "No, I want blue raspberry!" The employee obviously didn't hear, as it was loud in there. The lady turns to her daugher and begins complaining.

LADY: I asked for raspberry. I bet she's gonna give me cherry.
Daughter: It's ok, Mom. It doesn't matter. She'll get you a new one.
LADY: It DOES matter! These employees need to pay attention!

The employee comes back with--you guessed it--cherry! The lady snaps, "I wanted RASPBERRY!" The employee sighs gently and goes to get a raspberry. Now, it was late evening on New Year's Day, and the poor girl looked really tired. I have a friend who works at that same theater, and they only make 3-something an hour "plus tips." Right, because there's always something that deserves tipping at the movie theater. Here, popcorn-sweeper-upper, let me tip you ten bucks because you are wandering around looking lost and sweeping up bits of popcorn that have already been ground into the threadbare carpet!

But I digress. My point in all that was, the people who work here are overworked and underpaid. But nothing excuses what this lady said--and very loudly too--"IF SHE'S SO UNHAPPY WORKING HERE SHE SHOULD GET OFF HER LAZY BUTT AND FIND A NEW JOB."

Well sheesh. All the poor girl did was sigh at this woman's rudeness. Oh, and not have supersonic hearing.

I would have said something to this lady, but it took a few minutes to peel my jaw up from the floor. It sounds like this lady is the one who's unhappy. And her poor, teenage daughter who looked so ashamed of her mother's rudeness!

hobish:
My goodness, how rude!

At least the daughtter had the good graces to be embarassed & not emulate the mom's behavior.

RandomAngel:
Someone should tell her that both cherries and raspberries are predominantly red.  Better yet, someone should have told the movie theater--if both drinks had been red, do you really think the woman would ever have been able to tell the difference?  I'm ready to sigh, myself.

madmusician:
The cherry slushie is white and the raspberry one is blue. sorry to burst your bubble, m'dear... ;)

RandomAngel:
But that's just my point--if the movie theater had adhered to realistic slushie practices, their poor employee would have been spared this boor.  Who, undoubtedly, would have found something else to be nasty about.
