I think that Alexia is like Candida, they're both legitimate names in some places, though they also have unpleasant meanings (like Claudia, which means crippled). Of course my opinion is colored by the fact that the Alexia I know is probably the awesomest baby ever

There was a local newspaper article on twins who were ill, called Sam and Ella. It referred t them as Sam and Ella right through the article. Why oh WHY not refer to them as Ella and Sam? Surely someone realised how it sounded?

A friend's son used to work with a girl whose name was pronounced "Sha-theed". I'm sure her parents meant well, but they should've re-thought the rather unfortunate spelling...  Sh!the@d (with obvious character substitutions!). Poor kid.

What was her ethnic background? Because if it's a legitimate name in her / her parents' home country, especially if it's supposed to be pronounced in the way of the original language, I don't really think it should count... it's like with the Indian diplomat with the "dubious" last name...
