I'm on FF, I see the smileys "spelled out" with the actual characters, but not the smiley icons.

I see all smilies on Chrome, no problem at all, but on Safari they are blue boxes with crosses on them.

I saw them earlier today but now don't. I was on Flamingvixen earlier and am on Safari now. Not sure if there's a connection with the browser or not.

ETA: Back on Flamingvixen and on a PC, and I can see them. On Safari I was on a Mac. So it may be a Flamingvixen/Safari difference or a PC/Mac difference, or some combination of the two.

When I couldn't see them, they were the blue boxes with question marks.

I can't see any either, same as everyone else just a box with an x. 

Since the sigs have been disabled, do you think it might be linked to that?

Another bit of a twist. On my PC laptop, in FF, smilies are coming through fine. In IE, they don't come through. Interestingly, on the front page in IE, I get an ad for Christmas trees on the sidebar, but the header ad is just a box with the little shapes people were talking about.

Also, Ticia's sig pic is a red X too.
