I think I see where this strip is heading.

Paul will confess that he really didn't want to move south and was holding off breaking up with Liz until after her court stuff was over (he didn't want to distress her more during a really stressful time). Meeting up with childhood sweetheart Susan (the replacement teacher) was the universe's way of telling him that he should stay north.
Liz will be upset and head home. As likeable as Warren is, he is basically Liz's rebound guy. He was there after college jerk Eric broke Liz's heart and he'll be there post-Paul. But traditionally, rebound guys don't turn into THE ONE--and Warren and Liz alwyas had trouble maintain a long distance rel
ationship. So as much as it breaks my heart, I doubt Liz will end up with Warren.
Which leaves Anthony (boo hiss) to pick up the pieces. Even though he views Liz through the eyes of their high school rel
ationship, I can see her regressing back to him since she's had her heart trampled on too many times since they broke up--maybe she'll borrow his rose colored glasses. Plus, he has a house in her parents hometown and a little girl--instant family!
And over all, I can see Lynn manipulating everything to have the whole family remain in Milborough. If Liz gets together with Anthony, she'll be settled in her hometown. And the recent fire has sent Mike and Dee back there as well.
I can see John pushing to sell their house to Mike & Dee so their little family will have a place to grow. And John and Elly can buy that little house down the road that John has wanted for years (he's been mentioning it in his letters forever).
By the time the strip ends, April will be off at college and I can see Lynn wanting to end things with the rest of the family all together (and of course, April will live in Milborough after she becomes a vet--perhaps taking care of all the animals in the families). John & Elly will be retired in the little house down the road, Mike & Dee will be in the family home and Liz & Anthony will be right across town. As much as I personally don't want to see Liz end up with Anthony, I can't imagine the strip going any other way.

Man, this is pathetic. I just typed a long detailed prediction of the future of a family that doesn't exist outside the comic page and I'm sucked into their lives like they were real people. Too bad they're not--I'd love to whack Liz with a clue by four before she hooks up with Anthony again.
