When my daughter was little, I didn't want her to collect Barbie stuff, so I went to great lengths to talk (privately, of course!) about how "yucky" Barbie was. Her birthday is in December, and she had just turned 3 when her babysitter gave her a Barbie for Christmas. She opened it there, and I was terrified of what she might say. I didn't have to worry. She just gushed over how beautiful she was, etc. We got in the car, and she looked at me with disgust in her eyes, and said, "It's a yucky old Barbie." We decided it would be a good donation to our church's Christmas gift drive.
