« on: January 06, 2012, 10:04:12 AM »
National Bean Day is today (January 6.)  The origins of this obscure holiday are unknown, but Gregor Mendel, the Austrian scientist who demonstrated genetic traits through the study of inheritance patterns in beans and pea plants, died on this date in 1884.
