If David's parents were to find out Humphrey's true identity, surely they would be the first victims; he had to find a way to stop the evil madman!
The problem with choosing the lesser of two evils is that you're still choosing evil.

'Could Great-Aunt Annie, who lived over a few blocks away, be of any help?'  David's parents asked themselves.

The problem with Grandma, though, was that she spoke in riddles because, the grown-ups said, she was mentally ill, but David wasn't so sure.

As the family left the house to fetch Great Aunt Annie, they were dismayed to see their brand new car being swung around and smashed into the pavement by a gigantic baby.

(Ooh, yes.  I remember 'Attack of the Giant Baby'. It was a very funny book)

While his parents stood aghast, David ran to the cottage of Great-Aunt Annie who knew that The Dark Lord Hubert the Dreaded was at fault.

Great Aunt Annie grabbed her cane and snorted,  "Hubert's back and doing this again?  He's our cousin, you know and he's always been a royal pain."
