That cookie with a Hershey's Kiss
« on: February 28, 2012, 08:46:33 PM »
I just glimpsed someone on TV eating one of these and recall I used to have a fabulous recipe for it that i sadly lost  :(  Does anyone out there in eHell have a recipe for those cookies that you bake in a ball, slightly flatten and add a Hershey's Kiss on top of?  I would really like to make these again.  Thank you!

P.S.  My recipe was called "Thumbprint Cookies" but I'm not sure if that's the formal name...

Thank you!  I think this one comes close but there were no nuts in that recipe.

This one also comes close!  I recall there was peanut butter involved but no condensed milk and the flour was regular flour.

I'll use one of these if I can't find that same one though!  :)

If it's not too much trouble (and only if it's not), then yes, please!  And thank you!  I know I may not ever find that exact same recipe ever again but I thought I'd give it a shot.  You never know...

I think this is it!  Except I know there was butter, not shortening I think.  I wonder if I could use butter in place of shortening.  Would it ruin this recipe?  Thank you!

You can use butter, but the cookies probably won't hold their shape as well.  Maybe chilling the dough for an hour would help with that?

I just always use my favorite peanut butter cookie recipe, but leave out the pressing part.  Then stick in a kiss once they're off the cookie sheets, but while still warm.  then the kiss gets all melty and gooey.  mmmmmm

No, it shouldn't.  Just be sure you don't over mix the dough.  Butter doesn't react well to that  and you'll end up with flat cookies.  Shouldn't affect the taste at all except to make it tastier :D

Peanut butter cookie recipe.  Push in the Hershey Kiss after pulling the cookies from the oven.

About 99% of all recipes that I've seen mention shortening, butter, or margarine to be used 1 for 1 (if you're out of solid fat - liquid fats such as oils can be used but you need LESS of them - or when the cookies are baked you get lace - I have a SIL who tried it............the cookies were really, really thin).

Thanks very much Nikko-chan!  I like this one too.  I hope, unlike me, you will find your cherished recipe again!
