ACK! Ms PITA - venting

I realize I'm going to have to find another way to deal with Ms PITA because I can't keep reacting like this.  Having PMS does not help either!

So today I email Ms PITA and a group of other co-workers with a very simple question.

In typical Ms PITA fashion, she replies by not answering the question but giving me some irrelevant information, and then suggests a totally different way of doing my job to avoid these kind of "problems".  And she obliquely suggests that I shouldn't be asking this type of question in the first place.

The other day she tried to debate me on minor procedural matter even AFTER I pointed out about five different places in a manual that say to do it the way I am telling her.

I HATE this woman.  I truly do.  And I can tell she is going to fight me every step of the way now that I am no longer propping her up and accommodating her incompetence.

Off with her head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless she is the ONLY one with the answer you need, leave her off of your email list.

Trust me, I don't have anything more to do with her than is strictly necessary.

Just since my last post, she's done it again!

I sent out another group email about another subject, and she replied with another totally irrelevant answer. 

It's my personal belief that this woman has some sort of learning disability or dyslexia or ADHD or something. I'm not at all qualified to diagnose this, I'm just going by my sense that something is off.  I think she has developed a combination of helplessness and uncooperativeness as a cover.  She'll use any excuse to wriggle out of doing work, and will try all kinds of passive aggressive ways to maintain control.

Off with her head, but slowly, with pain....

I'd send her an email pronto that says since she doesn't seem to be able to offer any useful assistance, you will not be including her in group emails in the future.  Let her chew on that one.

I counted - it took 4 emails to get an answer to "Are you handling any of these contracts?" and 6 emails to get an answer to "Where is the [contract work] being carried out?"

And I got A LOT of guff along the lines of "why are you even asking me this? isn't there another process for you to get this information? maybe you should do it THIS way".

Like it's wrong/inappropriate for me to ask her about her contracts.

Funny, I cc'ed my boss on the emails and Boss had no problem with the question.

If you are cc'ing boss on this, I think that is as much as you can do. Boss will have to be the one to tell her to get her act together. (make sure Boss knows what answers, or non-answers, she is giving you)

The head idea is tempting, I know, but the maintenance crew in your office would have your head if you get blood on the carpets.

Suffocating her under a pile of paper work might do.

Or a little poison.

Both very non messy, but it still leaves you with that pesky body to get rid of.

Do you just send the same email over and over? I forward and reforward my original sent email and any replies that when someone doesn't respond or answers something that does not answer my question.  Annoying yes but if you read my email thought about it a simple yes or no would have answered me.

Me: Has this been updated in the system?

Other person: I was on vacation last week

Me: replying: Has this been updated in the system?

(no reply at all from Other Person in 3 days)

Me: Fwd of my last sent reply

Other Person: The system is being converted

Me: replying: Was it updated before the conversion and if not when will be it updated?

Other Person: The conversion will take 2 weeks

Me: replying and now CCing the Other Person's boss: Has this been updated in the system

**This is when I get an actual answer.

This is EXACTLY what it's like to deal with Ms. PITA.  Except that she adds in comments about how I should change the way I do my job. 

My boss won't do anything about it, so I'm not even considering that avenue.  I'm just going to stand my ground with her each and every time.  She has no idea who she is dealing with.. bwahahahahahaha! <rubs hands together>
