You could make home made creme fraiche, and put in on berries, or use it in baking.

You can use it to bake any of your favorite recipes.  You just have to adjust the leavening.  Here is a website that tells how.

Make buttermilk pancakes!  I fry up a batch of 15 or 20, and freeze them (separating the pancakes with waxed paper).

In the morning, just pop one or two in your toaster to warm them up.  Delicious.

I use butter milk to coat my chicken in before rolling it in the breading mix.

Smoothies!  8 oz of buttermilk, half a banana, a cup of strawberries or other fruit, and maybe a few ice cubes if you like.  Pop in the blender and process til smooth.  Nom!

I use buttermilk rarely enough that when I do buy it, I freeze the remainder in one-cup portions for future use (usually for ranch dressing).

Do you have lots of fridge space and do you like bran muffins?  There is a recipe where you make up a big pail of bran muffin mix, that uses buttermilk, and then you bake the muffins as you want them.

If you are interested, I'll see if I can dig up the recipe.

Scones and pancakes come to mind. You could also make ranch dressing if you're into that. :-)

Great for tenderising anything before cooking! It is a wonderful base for a marinade.

Also nice in irish soda bread, or just as a drink.
