Bluetooth madness!

(1/3) > >>

My mom and I were having a discussion about these a couple of days ago, and now it seems like everyone I see has a Bluetooth. When my mom told me that she was now the proud owner of one, I warned that she was now one of the people in public who everyone would think was crazy, as they appeared to be having a conversation with themselves. We had a good laugh and discussion over that. I don't care how convenient and great these devices are, I just think that people look really kooky using them because of that. Not only that, but you can think someone is talking to you directly and you answer them, only to find out that they're using their Bluetooth! Now I don't know if I'm being directly talked to, or if said person is talking to someone on their phone. Also, I guess I have seen too many episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, because I keep thinking the devices look like a part of the Borg or Bajorans. Despite how great Bluetooth may be, I won't wear them because I don't want to look like I'm a crazy person talking to myself, nor do I want to look like a ST:TNG character.  ;D

I'd feel like a mental patient if I were walking around with one on.  I guess I still can use one hand to hold a phone.  That might change when I'm hauling around an infant.  We'll see.

Of course, if your mom decides that she doesn't need her earpiece anymore, you can make this handy dandy banana phone out of it:  http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/08/diy_banana_phone.html

At least it'll make you look less insane than the earpiece would.

Well, then y'all need to invest in one of these!

Anyone a Scrubs fan? There's a great episode in the 5th season where Dr. Cox goes on a rant about Bluetooth headsets and Kim (JD's new girlfriend) doesn't say anything. After he's done and storms off, she lifts up her hair to reveal a headset and says, "No, I can hear you, Mom! I just couldn't respond!"

Brentwood:
My husband has one, but he only uses it in the car.

My mom swears that she'll only use hers indoors at her house. My aunt uses one while she walks her dogs in the morning. That's okay, because people probably assume that she is just talking to her dogs.
