I remember when we first converted to the metric system and gas switched to being sold in litres instead of gallons (~4.5 L to the Imperial gallon). A gallon cost about $0.80 at that time, I think. My uncle said that we'd end up paying more for a litre of gas than we were paying for a gallon. We all scoffed at him. Not anymore. Running around $1.20/L this week, although with the long weekend coming up, it is probably higher now.
