Friend gave my info to a rep for her home make-up sales party. Is this okay?

crocodile:
I feel so strongly about my privacy that I would end a friendship with anybody who did this.

MasterofSquirrels:
I sell stuff. Not Mary Kay, but a home party business.

If you wanted to have a party at your house, this is what I require: Your guest list with mailing addresses and/or email

If you are someone that doesn't want to receive mailings or emails from a stranger, I would hope your friend would respect that and not give it out. I have no use for anyone's phone number except for the hostess'. I do need to contact her prior to a show, but I never contact the guests.

ettiquit:
I loathe these types of parties as well, and would be absolutely livid if a friend gave a salesperson my personal contact info without my knowledge.

Cami:
Long ago, I was invited to attend a Girls' Night In party with makeovers, only to find out it was a Mary Kay night. My friend gave the rep, let's call her MsPersistent, my address and I got crap mailings and phone calls from MsPersistent for TEN YEARS! Even when we moved and got new phone numbers, she somehow got them. I asked/demanded to be removed from her list, but still kept getting the stuff.

What got even weirder/more annoying was a daughter of a friend was starting to sell MK and asked if she could practice her sales pitch on me since I used to be in sales. I was quite clear with her that this had better be just a practice pitch and I never ever wanted to get ANY info from her about MK. She assured me she'd never do that. Then she called me up and said there was a "problem" because I was "in the system" as MsPersistent's client and therefore she was not allowed to even do a practice pitch on me. I asked her to tell MsPersistent's boss in the pyramid that I was NO ONE'S client and then and only then did I stop getting the  crap mailings and phone calls from MsPersistent.

Long story short: I loathe those parties and I would be quite angry if a friend gave out my info. Quite.

wheeitsme:
Short answer.  No.
