It would work in my circle, on grounds that I don't read the paper ... but it would not work, on grounds that neither does anyone else I know.

Dad was a little on the oblivious side.

My Mother was very oblivious when my Sister and I bought our parents a new TV for their anniversary a number of years back.

She completely failed to notice the new TV set in the living room ... despite having been watching it for about 20 minutes.  :o ???

Talk about failing a spot check. ;D
