I miss the Nestles chocolate bar in the red wrapper.  I don't know if they still make it or not, but they sure don't sell it anywhere near me.

Campbell's Scotch Broth soup.  It had beef and barley and was so deliciously comforting.

As I understand it, Campbell's Scotch Broth was discontinued because it was the only soup that used mutton instead of more readily available meats.

I miss it too.  Nothing was better for lunch after a good snowball fight.

Gebhardts Chili Quick. It was the best seasoning IMO for making chili. It came in a can and you added 1/4 cup to your 1 lb of meat and other chili ingredients and that was all. So good. It was made by a small company in Texas and it closed. My mother and I have tried to find the receipt online but can't. I wish it was a bigger brand so those folks who figure out all the restaurant/food recipes would do this one. I 'd even sacrifice my last bit of Chili Quick for the research.

It certainly helps me!  It's a good starting point for sure.  I'll be happily tweaking this to suit me.  Thanks very much.

I had noticed that Texmex.net had stated they have replicated the Chili Quick product.  I have no idea how close it is to the Gebhardt's original.  When I lived out of state and had a hard time getting Gebhardt's Chile Powder, I used their mail order service frequently.

I was just about to post that!  I live in the Chicago area.  Can't find it anywhere.  I suppose I could order from the internet.  Every time I travel I look for that candy bar.  Once found some of them at a dollar-type store that was going out of business though.

Yep, here they are:  http://www.oldtimecandy.com/nestle.htm

Mutton?? Really?!?!?  I had no idea - I always thought it was beef!

And here I thought I was a true label-reader.  Too funny!   :D

Here in Texas they're everywhere! (I'm not a big fan, but I don't like Nestle's choc anyways.)

They're usually found in Mexican markets here, along with a "King" themed Nestle bar that a friend of mine says is identical.

I rarely see Zero candy bars, usually only in a dollar store or mom & pop market.

I miss the old watermelon Jolly Rancher sticks. The original Mr. Bubble powdered bubble bath. Aldi's stores had an amazing frozen strudel. It was available in mixed berry, cheese or apple raisin. I loved it.

You can find Zero candy bars at Cracker Barrel Country Stores.

Lyle's Golden Syrup in tins or glass jars. The supermarkets only carry it in easy to squeeze plastic bottles.  It's easier and cleaner to use and store but it's just not the same.

We have it in the tins at our SE US supermarkets.
