I've not had a problem using it to line the bottom of my cake pans, though.  I wouldn't use it for anything else in the oven.

As long as you're fine with melted wax in your cake...

I've never noticed a problem.  There's not *that* much wax in wax paper.

I have used wax paper also and never had a problem. Maybe it all depends on the type of cake, temp on the oven, length of time in the oven?? The only cakes I use paper on the bottoms for are my carrot cakes, which are super sticky and super moist. so the bottoms never get *dry*, maybe that's why i've never had melting problems. ? ???

I don't use parchment paper in the kitchen much, but I love the idea of using it to keep a cake from sticking to the pan.

Is there anyone who's found parchment paper to be a problem, or doesn't like it for some reason? I'm just looking out in advance for any potential issues that might come up with this method.

An hour cooling in the pan is too long--10 or 15 minutes is long enough.
