Ugh...another loud party!

(1/4) > >>

Otterpop:
Our neighbor is a cop.  She also frequently throws loud, drunken parties late into the night.  Tonight is another one.  I feel like yelling over the fence that none of us, husband, kids, me, can get any sleep.  Instead I've called the noise police anonymously, but I sit here waiting for them to show.

My question is:  Since this has been going on for years now, would it be rude of me to get a stepladder out, face them and start yelling?  If so, what retribution would I receive?  Has anyone done this?  Or, are we all reduced to sitting in our houses with the lights out, waiting for the authorities to shut them down.  It's maddening and worse for her being a cop and knowing better.

I would avoid yelling over the fence. If you're dealing with drunk, inconsiderate people, it could escalate unpleasantly. Have you considered calling the regular police (her employers) about this one?

I hope  this is being asked out of frustration and not that you are seriously considering this.

Of course you shouldn't start yelling -not only is it rude, but it could be dangerous (you really don't want to start confronting drunken people).

continue calling the police - but maybe look into calling whoever monitors the police (internal affairs?) because this person *is* the police...

I agree with the others ... and depending on where you live and the local news stations - if there's no resolution, you could notify a TV station

wonderfullyanonymous:
If your local police dept is not doing anything about shutting down the party, try calling the county sheriff, or state police.

I second calling the local media too, either newspaper or news station.
