Hockey Team Kindness.
« on: February 01, 2013, 11:32:25 PM »
It's cold here in WNY these days and most people just want to stay out of the cold. But we all gotta do what we gotta do, right? The past two days I have noticed the members of my college hockey team doing their parents proud.
Yesterday at school, we were having very cold temperatures and high winds and these young men were out and about assisting anyone who needed a hand to get to where they needed to go. They were walking folks from building to building or from classroom to car, because "We're used to cold and we won't get blown over but someone else could get hurt"  that would have been enough to warm the cockles of my heart.
Tonight at the Y they had my eyes brimming. Again frightfully cold and we had warnings for lake effect snow and gusts of wind. I noticed three young men with "Buffalo State Hockey " shirts on who were watching out the windows in the lobby, I thought they were waiting for a ride until I heard one of them offer an elderly couple an escort out. A bit later they helped a bunch of folks from a local group home and then they asked me if I needed an asked, I declined telling them I was waiting for my family to come out yet, but that I thought it was very nice of them to help out like that. One of them said "The world's cold enough, we hope that we can make it a little warmer and keep folks from being hurt."
It was so nice to see.

That's just beautiful.  I would write a letter to the local news station/newspaper about they men.
The problem with choosing the lesser of two evils is that you're still choosing evil.
