And I will probably add more things since the gala is not for a few more weeks! I needed my brain started!

I make little roll up sandwiches that look wonderful. Cut them in 2" pieces.

Tomato pita bread with roast beef, thousand island dressing, and a strip of sweet red pepper in the middle.

Plain pita bread with ham, seasoned mayo, and a sweet baby gerkin pickle in the middle.

After cut in 2" pieces, stand them up so the color effects can be seen.

Yes!

Err, the normal-sized 750 ml bottles hold 4 glasses of wine each.  You have 10 people, ergo for each person to have ONE glass, you'd need to have at least 3 bottles.  So you could easily offer both red and white...

I would think 'both' myself.

Sounds like a lovely evening is shaping up!

I love a beautiful plate of smoked salmon sprinkled with capers, cracked black pepper and snipped fresh dill.  Adda bowl  of dill-sour cream for topping and sliced cocktail bread.

This is another app that is always well received and can be made before hand and served room temperature.

The Pioneer Woman has a skewer appetizer that I've made for at least three parties and always get rave reviews and no leftovers.  Her recipe calls for rosemary springs to be used for the skewer but I just use a wooden skewer about 4 inches long.

Here is the link:  http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/06/rosemary-skewers/

In case you can't open the link, it's a cube of mozzarella, a quartered artichoke heart, a slice of salami folded into fourths, and a kalamata olive.  I make the skewers the night prior, and then sprinkle with balsamic vinaigrette at the party.

Delicious and pretty!

I'm laughing at me because I think everybody already upscaled all of my ideas! ;

I agree with the meatballs (grape jelly & bbq sauce) in a crock-pot . . . sounds like the only hot bites, but very yummy.

Another option for the crock pot is teriyaki steak.

Pinwheels -- tortillas spread with cream cheese and corned beef slices (some people add pickles in the center) rolled up and sliced.

Finger sandwiches -- plain white bread, soft cream cheese and your filling of choice (corned beef, turkey, cucumber, whatever) make a sandwich, cut off the crusts and diagonally quarter.

But I do like everybody else's suggestions better than my own! ;D

Absolute perfection! I chose caprese skewers (little skewers with little fresh mozzarella balls and cherry tomatoes and fresh basil drizzled in balsamic vinegar); deviled eggs, a trio of dips - spinach, salsa and guacamole ... along with garlic pita chips; and there are several different names for it ... but basically crescent dough topped with cream cheese, sour cream, dry ranch dressing mix ... plus radishes, broccoli, and cauliflower on top along with shredded sharp cheddar (I call it Summer Pizza); shrimp on little tasting spoons topped with cocktail sauce and a wee bit of cilantro (WOW! What a presentation!), meatballs in a crockpot with grape jelly and chili sauce (um, that, the shrimp and the Summer Pizza went first!), mini cheesecake squares; mini brownie bites, and sparkling wine, regular wine, soft drinks and water. HUGE HIT. HUGE. HIT.
