Capsule Descriptions

This will probably go nowhere.  However, I think it might be a fun thing to try.

I've just finished watching the Metropolitan Opera  broadcasts of Wagner's Ring Cycle.  I'd known the story and listened to the music before but never all at once. Suddenly, it dawned on me.  I could sum up the whole thing in nine words because every character did this at least once...

'It seemed like a good idea at the time'.

Would you like to give a capsule account of films, television shows or books?

Ah yes, Octavia.

This is what we like to call the 'Dang Fool Plot'. 

If people in these stories were at all rational they'd all bed down in the study together and post guests in groups of two to keep hourly watches. 

Of course, if they did that, there wouldn't be any story. 

How about 'Titanic'? 

It was a big ship.  It sank.

Many years ago, a friend and I were discussing movies.
The discussion went something like this:

Me "How was (James Bond movie with super-secret bad guy sub-boat-watercraft)?"

Her "Well, the boat sinks. How was Titanic?"

Me "Well, the boat sinks..."

I've edited this one for language, but it came from this week's episode of The Thick of It as Malcolm Tucker's description of Star Wars.

The one about the space hairdresser and the cowboy. He's got a tinfoil pal and a pedal bin. His father's a robot and he's ****** his sister. Lego. They're all made of lego.

I think almost any film can be spoiled with "He dies at the end."

Titanic: "A two and a half hour movie about a ship that took one hour 40 minutes to sink."
