I am pleased to say that I finally got through the apocolypse, discovered a reason for my protagonist to abandon her people, and started her on the real adventure: a dangerous cross country journey, attempting to find a new place to belong. Hoping for smooth writing now.

I was able to work out today exactly in which order the chapters go, it really gives me a target for which to aim.

*sigh* No. Fiona's rebelling. I've tortured her too much and now as payback she refuses to give me any ideas... *grin* But i will write anyways. ONWARD!

I'm on about 8500 words, and don't know where I want my story to go next, or what theme I want to develop (of course, I had to pick the stupidly hard genre of Literary Fiction).

I think it's because I didn't plan it enough prior to November. Now I'm unsure whether to pull out of NaNoWriMo and go back to the planning stages. Then I can go back and have a proper crack at writing it. Or whether to plow ahead and write anything, even if it's completely useless and random stuff. I have a feeling that wouldn't really achieve anything, though.

Suggestions, please?

LifeOnPluto, something similar happened to me during NaNo Camp. I got completely stuck because I hadn't done enough research and worked on my story enough. But I didn't want to give up either, so I just decided to spend some time with my characters and simply go for the 'NaNoCamp Win'. I wrote pretty random scenes (some even go into the imagined backstory of the characters), whatever I felt like.

And now, for NaNo this year, I am really writing the story. I completely redid the timeline, changed some characters, dropped a few, added a few, changed the ending I had at first imagined - but I can reuse or rewrite some of the stuff I wrote during Camp. I actually find that it helps. So, basically, it wasn't a complete loss to just write something, anything, even if it just helped me to find out what I didn't want the story to be like.

I've got stuff on paper, just not on my computer.  I really need to get on that.  I have some more plot points worked out, and even some things for later books!  How are you doing?

I'm in the middle of my book and things are not going well.  It's a bit of a slog and I have to get through all of this stuff so I can do my big dramatic ending.  I'm focusing on writing 300-500 words at a time.

My write in tonight did not go well.  I usually get around 2500 words, I had about 1500 instead...sigh

I'm skipping the slog and the things I'm not entirely sure about (like how the King manages to be so darn conniving)...actually, now that I think about it, he's the only one I feel the need to skip.  I have six main characters, two of which will not be formally introduced until the second book, so really I'm only skipping one of four.

I'm skipping ahead in my novel as well. I've just put in around 4000 words I wrote away from my computer... Those were scenes that go towards the end of my story. Ah well, as long as I'm writing something...

I just realised that I've completely forgotten my villain again. He's gone AWOL. He not very villainous either. I guess that's something I'll have to change when editing the book.
