S/o favourite silly poems...Favourite Silly Songs!
« on: October 02, 2012, 04:32:32 PM »
Mine is "Oh Where is My Hairbrush?". Veggie Tales I think...what is yours?

That song gets stuck in my head!
Time flies like an arrow.
Fruit flies like a banana.

Thanks, Hollanda - now I've got it stuck in my head! (Guess it's a good thing it's one of my favorites, too!)  ;D

"Oh Lord, It's Hard To Be Humble" (I don't remember the singer)

"Sneaky Snake" (Tom T. Hall)

"The Haircut Song"  (Ray Stevens)

"They're coming to take me away, ha ha
They're coming to take me away."

There's a particularly silly one about fish heads, but I haven't heard it in years.

And I'll need to white this one out:

"Mom says Puppy's days are through.
She's going to throw him in the stew.
Dead puppies aren't much fun
No, no, no"

Now, if you'll excuse me, nobody loves me, everybody hates me, I'm going to run away and eat worms.   ;)

Weird Al's song "I was only kidding", about someone proposing marriage, then coming back and saying, "I was only kidding - can't you take a joke?"  I told Mr. Sirius that any man doing that to me while I was single would be lucky if he escaped with only a flesh wound.

There's a particularly silly one about fish heads, but I haven't heard it in years.

Fish heads, fish heads, roly poly fish heads
Fish heads, fish heads, eat them up, yumm!
(Available on several Dr. Demento CDs.)

Two that are black humor -- don't listen if pet death bugs you: "Little Gomez" and "He's Nobody's Moggy Now" by Eric Bogle

Eric the Half a Bee
The Universe Song
The Philosopher's Song

Pretty much anything that has run on Dr. Demento in the last 40 or so years.

Edited because the filter didn't like one innocent word.

I also love Kevin ****** Wilson.  The lyrics swear a lot but I still find him funny.  Very funny.  >:D

"My Rhinoceros"

"You Can't Roller Skate in a Buffalo Herd"

"On Ilkley Moore Baht At." (Up the ducks!)

The music goes round and round
When you come to the end of a lollipop
There is one about bumbershoots but I can't remember the name.
I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.

I pulled my groin
I puled my groin

fish head is a classic

another good one is basingstoke by eric bogle (lyrics http://folkaustralia.com/BernardBolan/lyrics.html#BAS)

If you like country music there are some good parodys by Cledus T Judd little dittys like "my cellmate thinks i'm sexy" and "where's your mommy?"

I've heard a Yorkshire countryman speak. He was even less intelligible than that song.  (Duck soup, anyone?)

Ray Stephens: The Mississippi Squirrel Revival, The Shriner's Convention

"Well how'd you get that big 'ol Harley up there on the high dive, anyway?"

The Streak is fun, too. "Ethel, you shameless hussy!"

Johnny Cash has some great dumb songs. "A Boy Named Sue," of course, but also "One Piece At A Time" and "The Chicken In Black," in which his brain wears out so he has it replaced with the brain of a recently deceased bank robber. For some reason this doesn't work out too well for him.

Veggietales songs are fun. My favorite is probably "His Cheeseburger," because I too am a man who loves him a cheeseburger. I also like a 70's themed Veggietales album we bought. It's all real hit songs, but with ridiculous commentary throughout. Towards the end of "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" Mr. Lundt starts asking everyone to keep it down, because "The lion is sleeping, and if we wake the lion up we got a whole 'nother set of problems..."
