Tonight I was at a "Meet the Candidates" night, and a candidate for the state legislature read the following letter he once received from a sixth grader:
I'm doing a report for school and I have a question. I know that there's a governor, a lieutenant governor, and then the Secretary of State, the State Auditor, and the State Treasurer. And then there's the State Senate and House of Representatives.
Is there anything lower than a state representative?

(Of course, the last line is why it's funny.)
Well, I suppose it could have been worse. He could have asked about whether there were legislative aides and interns "underneath" state representatives.
