We have the same ex-friend!! I have written several threads about mine. I know for a fact I have joined the ranks of all the other mean people in her life (there seem to be a lot of them). It's awfully nice not to be dealing with her anymore, but at the same time, why do I feel so guilty?

Any guilt is probably due to being "mean" to the person you thought they were, the nice one.
Or just because many of us have free-floating guilt....

The guilt is because you feel like you ought to be able to change things.

You can't--you don't have the power. Once you recognize that, you might be able to let go of the guilt.
