I could tell you about the guy who thought I was Head of the CIA and the gal who wanted the REAL Bible.
You know the Bible with the gold on the edges of the pages?  That's the only real Bible.

I thought the red letter King James was the only real Bible....what a dolt I am.
I have finally found the bar I can't get thrown out of....

Couldn't remember the author, but the main chracter was named Amelia Pebody and the novel was set in Victorian times.

You want the books by Elizabeth Peters!

I am reading "The Last Camel Died at Noon" right now.

I was introduced to Elizabeth Peters by a librarian in my late teens (one of the Amelia Peabody mysteries), and she's still on my buy-immediately list.

For weber06 - Elizabeth Peters is a prolific writer, and has many other books than the few dozen Amelia Peabody Mysteries. A Google search should be able to sort out the Amelia's from the rest (modern settings for the most part). Ms. Peters also writes gothic novels under the name Barbara Michaels.

A friend's brother-in-law argued that the Apostle Peter preached from the King James version of the Bible at Pentecost.

I worked in a christian book store we had one woman insist that Jesus translated the King James Version.  And another lady who told me I personally was going to hell because the store I worked in sold fiction and that true christians only read bible commentaries. (which my mananger said I should have told her that true christians only read the bible and don't rely on others to interpert the scriptures for them. - my manager was being sarcastic we wouldn't really had said that to her)

Wouldn't that make it the King Jesus version?? True Christians only read Bible commentaries? Then why was she in the store?? Times like this you smile politely and say (to yourself) "Judge not, lest ye be not judged".

I told a woman that I worked with who made a comment that you should only read the Bible in it's "original version"  (some of us were haveing a discussion of a Bible study class one of them had taken. She asked which Bible they were using - it was one of the more modern language ones.)

that I didn't know that she spoke anchient Aramic and maybe she should go help them translate the "Dead Sea Scrolls"

I was a "smart butt  and I don't want to talk to you anymore" (yeah - wasn't talking to you anyway)  I looked at her and told her "better a smart one than a dumb one"
