Hair
« on: December 03, 2012, 11:03:15 AM »
A woman sitting in front of me on the bus flipped her ponytail over the top of her seat, so that at some point during the ride her hair was touching my knees.
I am somewhat grossed out by strangers' hair touching me, and I also find this to be invading my personal space.

I said "Excuse me" twice, tapped her on the shoulder twice, but apparently she had fallen fast asleep.
I tried to move my legs to the side, but her head rocking in her sleep + the bus movements had that hair touching me all the time.

I thought of flipping the ponytail back over the top of the seat, but I thought that would be very rude of me (add in the gross factor as well).

What would a polite EHellion do?

I'd have woken her up.

My first thought for your situation is to cover my knees with my bag so they aren't touching the hair anymore. Or move to a new seat.

I am not grossed out enough by relatively clean-looking hair to want to grab the ponytail or shake her awake, so I can't help you there.

I would have woken her up.  While I'm not grossed out by hair, I don't want a stranger's hair in my personal space.

I would have kept tapping her until she woke up (I have done this).  Or I would have moved my bag so that it was what was touching the hair (basically pinning her hair between the bag and the seat back).

I wouldn't wake her up but I would put her pony tail back over the seat.

As soon as the hair hit my knees, I would have tapped her on her shoulder and asked her to move her hair.  If she stayed asleep, I would use a pen or my sleeve to move it back.  That is if there weren't any empty seats to move to first.

I realize that was said as a joke, but it's not funny. It was not right of the lady to throw her hair into another's space. Joking about cutting another person's hair is not funny.

Agreed. Even with the "Evil Smilie", I'm not finding this all that funny.

Is this really that bad? It's hair. Yeah, if someone actually did it, that would be messed up, but it's not like I'm making jokes about actually hurting this person.
