I can't speak for the OP, but I completely understand when one 1/2 of the couple says, for instance, "I was at Wherever w/ BF" or "BF & I are buying a lawn mower", but I for one get a little  ::) when I ask you if you like, say, a certain movie, and you answer w/ an automatic "BF & I love that movie."

While I understand BF is your one and only, and you think about him constantly when you're away from him, sometimes I'm just interested to hear what *your* likes or dislikes are.  Hope that doesn't sound snarky.

That's a good distinction. When you are talking about things you've done, or things you plan to do 'we' is an appropriate adjective.  When it comes to personal dislikes or opinions, I don't buy that being a close couple means that their views on everything from pizza toppings to world events to Saturday night TV suddenly merge to the point that they only have one opinion on everything. I also tend to be a bit wary about someone who continually claims to speak for someone else on matters of opinion, no matter how well they know each other - be it a wife for a husband, or a parent for a child.

I've also seen people speak for their unborn child's taste in movies - "Oh, no, baby doesn't want to see that".

Babies do respond to things in utero,  so I could understand if "the baby" doesn't want to go to something loud with lots of explosions or something that makes Mom-to-be very emotional.  It's like avoiding foods that Mom-to-be may love but which, due to her pregnancy, are not a good idea.  Most women will say "the baby doesn't like Italian" instead of going into details of what, excatly, Italian food does to her these days.

Food I can see, but this was a couple that were using the unborn baby as a voting member of the group when deciding what video to rent, in addition to the mom and dad's votes.

Heh - I'd love to be able to say "DH and I love that movie", but unless you're talking about Blazing Saddles or Airplane!, it's not likely  ;D I can't think of a single area in which I could automatically say that we both loved X. I'm still trying to convince him that horror films can be scary and Thai food isn't poncy.

My boyfriend and I can't understand this attitude. We love agreeing on everything. In fact, we simply can't fathom a situation where we would ever disgree, as we feel that something like that would be a huge affront to our relationship and an indication that we don't truly "wuv" each other. We simply can't bear the idea of having an independent opinion or thought - it would just upset us too much. We love the idea that we are a single identity in two bodies!

And we don't like gravy on our steak, only ketchup. And too much salt on our french fries makes us cranky and raises our cholesterol, etc etc.

Love from,
Heartstar1&Heartstar1'sBoyfriend

Exactly, if I say DH and I both liked that.  Then it must be impressive as we tend to have very different tastes.

Unfortunately I do have to change plans due to DH though it's more like:

"DH insisted on eating some mayo that was past it's expiration date*, even though we all told him not to, and now can't actually come out of the bathroom.  Therefore I've got no one to watch the baby, so I can't make the movie tonight."

*This did happen and DH still doesn't believe that expiration are there for a reason.  And the man has a honours degree!
