I think your DH was more than generous to her to maintain a relationship with her after she treated you the way she did. I'm a little baffled, really, as to why he didn't maintain a united front with you, unless he made it very clear to her that he wouldn't tolerate her treating you that way any further and that his staying in contact with her didn't mean that he accepted that behavior.

I understand your point but the relationship was minimal (last time DH saw actually SIL was in 2006 during a crisis with a parent) and didn't bother me.  I think it will shrink down to just about nothing, now that The Great Pie Incident of 2012 has occurred.  We'll be scratching them off our gift list, at least.

Thanks for the clarification, demarco! That sounds a lot better than what I was imagining. As for that email from SIL, good glory, what a drama queen. I love the suggested "we've always liked pie better than you" response, but I'm sure silence is wisest. No fuel for her fit/fire.

We have also ordered from the place Dotty mentioned above and they are super.  They have a sampling of darling, assorted little fruitcakes you can order that would be the highlight of anyone's season and , if I recall correctly, they also have pecan pie.

Exactly!! That made me think "Yeah, you're in the house full of much drama and no pie!"

I am a little sad that there are people in the world that prefer personal drama over pie. 

Seriously, they got free pie that just arrived on their doorstep.  And they prefered to go to all the trouble to make personal drama and ship it to you.  At least they shipped you the pie, too.  I agree with accepting the pie and refusing delivery of the drama.
