How do you pamper yourself?
« on: December 26, 2012, 05:58:46 PM »
With the holidays and other obligations, I have been neglecting myself lately, as I am sure many of you have as well I decided that I was going to take an evening and kick DH out and just completely pamper myself. I tried to think of as many feel-good things that I could to make myself feel fresh and renewed. Here's what I've done tonight:

Had eyebrows waxed
Cut and colored my hair (way overdue for both)
Exfoliated (using my new body brush!)
Took a long, hot shower
Removed all unwanted hair
Used my new rose body butter to moisturize
Used my favorite facial moisturizer
Gave myself and at-home mani-pedi
Used an ear wax remover (turns out I didn't have any!)
Used my neti pot to clear sinuses
Coconut foot balm

All the while burning a lavender candle and watching/listening to the Michael McDonald Christmas special. Now I am sipping wine and having fun on ehell. I feel wonderful....ahhhh...
What do you do to spoil/pamper yourself?

What have you got? Is it food? Is it for me? I want it whatever it is!

For physical pampering:

*At-home facial- the whole four-step method of wash, steam, scrub and mask. I did that Christmas Eve, since I was alone and could have a green face in peace.

*Long hot baths with a Lush bath bomb/bath melt

*Body scrubs- I have a new one that's coconut ginger and yummy

For mental pampering:

*Lounging with a new library book I've been looking forward to- I did this Christmas Day

*Watching a movie- I don't do this very often.

*Reading a magazine I really wanted to get
If wisdom’s ways you wisely seek,
Five things observe with care,
To whom you speak,
Of whom you speak,
And how, and when, and where.

Hot oil treatment for my hair.  Spa pedicure and manicure.  Highlights and a haircut.  But these things are rare.  I think I'm more about restorative rather than pampering.  When I need to relax and re-energize, I like a nice nap, making a big pot of soup or some other healthy food.  Reading a book or just puttering around the house with classical music on while I tidy up and de-clutter.  Getting rid of stuff puts my mind at ease. (my mom is a hoarder so I feel better knowing I'm not repeating the pattern.)

A nice long shower (I think baths are icky)
An at home deep cleansing facial
Eyebrow wax at the mall
A professional pedicure (love having my feet rubbed)
Cats around my feet and one on my lap as a book holder
A few books to read. I can happily spend a day reading and I don't care if they are physical books or ebooks
A big pot of peppermint tea/or a big bottle of wine

I grab my swimsuit, a bathrobe and a good book, and head to the Scandinavian spa.  This is the one near my house:

If I want to splurge, I'll also book a massage, and/or a body treatment (their full-body scrubs are amazing!)

I like pedicures and waxing - although there's something similar to waxing called sugaring that is generally more expensive but I like 1000 times better.

Generally I pamper myself with going out for a pedicure, or staying home to take a bath, read a book, and drink wine.

I am not a spa kind of girl, but i do keep myself in Shower Shock caffeinated soap. I schedule time for horseback riding, and order from Think Geek every so often as little things for me. And my camper, of course, where i run off every summer weekend to lounge out and read by day, and drink and ride dirtbikes with rednecks by night. In my world that is pampering.  ;D

It's alright, man. I'm only bleeding, man. Stay hungry, stay free, and do the best you can.

I love getting a massage - sadly, I haven't had time or money for one since we've been in Atlanta.

Most often, though, I clean my kitchen (something about having that whole room clean makes me so happy) and take a long bath with my nook in a ziplock bag so it stays dry. The baths are more necessary than pampering (I have so many skin conditions, and a long bath in colloidal oatmeal makes it all better) but the long chance to read with no distractions is the real pampering. The dog doesn't bother me while I'm in there, either!

A coffee drink from my favorite coffee shop

A long hot bath

Un-interrupted reading time

One option in a tug of war with someone is just to drop the rope.
