New to Twitter - Followers?

So, I finally broke down and got a twitter account, so I can follow some public figures. I wasn't planning on ever tweeting, because this isn't about me. However, I got a notification that I am being followed (complete stranger). Am I now obligated to tweet?

You're not obligated to tweet and you can block them if you don't want them to follow you. Just click on their icon and select block.

Spammers, scammers, and other ne'er-do-wells may try to follow as many new users as they can, in hopes that the newbie will automatically follow them back. Once that happens, the ne'er-do-well can send you a Direct Message (like a PM).

The Direct Message may have a link to a site that will capture your Twitter or Facebook password.  Or the site may put malware on your computer.

Thanks for the info. You know, it's funny, I worried that I should provide something for my follower to read, but it never occurred to me to follow back.  ;D
