I remember Cindy
« on: December 29, 2012, 05:42:59 AM »
As one from the Old Board. I just wanted to remember Cindy.

And I'm making a scarf to pass on in her honor.

I was just thinking about her recently too, when a friend gave me a hand-knit scarf for my birthday.

What is this about?  Did she die?

Yes, of cancer some years ago.  Several of us, myself included, made scarves for the cold and destitute in her memory - the idea came from a dream Scritzy had.  OmniCindy was a really nice, gentle lady - a regular poster who was kind, polite, strong and a real class act.

The Cindy Project folder is still on the forum.
I've never knitted anything I could recognize when it was finished.  Actually, I've never finished anything, much to my family's relief.

I remember Cindy (and I drove through Slidell with VorGuy on our way to & from Thanksgiving in Florida last month.

The embarressing thing is that I found my needles, yarn, and a partial scarf back in the sewing room.  I moved four states west a few months after Katrina and things got unpacked & put in places where they were out of sight & out of mind - while I dealt with catching up with the rest of the house (guys moved a year earlier) and Rita did some minor damage to our fence & new house.

I found them earlier this fall while looking for something else...

I want to work out how to use my "new" Incredible Sweater Machine by making several scarves - because hand knitting is still not on the agenda (until my wrists get a bit better).  Besides - anything that I can get from start to finish faster has to be more fun!
Let sleeping dragons be.......morning breath......need I say more?

I didn't join in with Scritzy's Scarf idea. cost too much to post overseas from here.  We did donate homemeade scarves to Vinnies for the needy.

Cindy was Truly a Classy Woman. I wish I had half of her Grace and Love.

She was a true class act. I sent her a care package shortly after Katrina-just some basic supplies and a few other things thrown in. Despite losing her home, being incredibly ill with cancer and not sure of her next move, she sent a lovely hand written thank you note. Totally not necessary given the extreme circumstances at the moment, but she did it none the less.

I used to lurk on the D-board, and trailed over when the board shifted, so I never interacted with Cindy, but I remember when Scritzy started the project.

It makes my heart feel good that an internet forum reached out to help others in honor of a poster.

I just thought of her last week.  A friend posted her own handmade scarves and it brought back some really lovely memories of Cindy.  Are any of the threads she posted in archived anywhere?  She seemed like such a sweet, wonderful person.
