She is allowed to have the cell phone
Ko-Ko:
This time I didn't actually receive the wrath of some random person, but as I witnessed the whole thing, I can tell all of you the story.
Basically, I met my friend Mary at the mall so we could get lunch at the food court and then go to a movie. Another friend Laura, was supposed to come as well, but half an hour after she was supposed to meet us she still had not arrived. So Mary called Laura on her cell phone to ask where she was. As she talked to Laura, I noticed a man making talking motions with his hand, and mouthing "blah blah blah." He then said loudly to a woman who was probably his wife, "It's amazing how these kids are so rude, but they think they are all so cool with their "toys." His wife even agreed with him! Mary's phone is not a toy, she was using it properly. She wasn't talking loudly either, which is more than I can say for that man. It just seems like there are some people who only get upset at people using phones in movie theatres and places like that, but some people like him just like to complain. We just ignored him, because we knew if we said anything that would just give him something else to whine about. Thanks for reading.

Where were you standing when this took place? I can understand someone being annoyed if you are talking in a movie theatre, restaurant or anywhere loudly where others were distracted by it. I am picturing you standing in the food court, or outside of the mall when this occured. Regardess, his reaction was rude and condescending. As you have probably noticed by now, age does not guarantee someone will act appropriately. Just curious, what was his wife's reaction? I would have wanted to crawl in a hole, if my husband acted like that.

We were in the food court when this happened. The guy's wife actually agreed with him! Obviously, they both have some issues if they are going to get so bent out of shape over nothing.

I'm actually less impressed by the Indigant About Cell Phones types than I am by the (few) folks who really do have annyoing cell phone habits.

Especially since some of the annoying cell phone users might not realize that they are annoying. They are still irritating, but the indignant about cell phones types who make comments like this guy are deliberately trying to start trouble.
